The Macau Customs Service said in a statement yesterday that its officers rescued four illegal immigrants (IIs) from the sea off Sai Van Bridge on Monday night while the No. 3 typhoon signal was hoisted.
The statement stated that the IIs, all from the mainland aged 27 to 43, fell off a sampan at about 9 p.m. when they were about to enter the city clandestinely. They comprised three men and a woman from Henan, Hubei, Shanghai and Shanxi.
According to the statement, one of three men is banned from entering the city so that he will be transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) for further questioning while the other three will be deported back to the mainland.
