A Filipino non-resident worker was arrested last week for attacking his wife whom he suspected of having an affair, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said at the press conference on Friday.
The 31-year-old suspect surnamed Caldito told the police that he works as a cleaner.
According to Ho, the Public Security Police referred a family dispute case to the Judiciary Police last Monday for further follow up. Ho said that the suspect and the victim married in 2018, and both worked as cleaners for two different companies. The couple’s relationship started to deteriorate in November last year as Caldito’s wife suspected her husband of having an affair.
Ho said that Caldito appeared last Monday outside a hospital on the peninsula, where his wife works and was on the phone with a friend at that time. He erupted in anger and snatched her phone, accusing her of having an affair. Both quarrelled and Caldito hurt his wife’s arm as he used excessive force when grabbing the phone from her. A colleague of the victim reported the attack to the Public Security Police which later referred the case to the Judiciary Police and arrested Caldito. Under questioning, Caldito admitted to attacking his wife not just on that day but also many times before.
Caldito has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge of causing bodily harm, according to Ho.
