A number of residents contacted the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) and local media such as The Macau Post Daily yesterday about an earthquake that they had “felt” at around 2:30 a.m. yesterday.
“I could really feel it, I woke up because my bed was shaking,” Helen, a Philippine domestic helper who lives near Penha Hill, told The Macau Post Daily.
According to an SMG statement, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded by the bureau at 2:28.48, centred at sea off Huizhou city, which borders Shenzhen to the southwest, about 156 kilometres east-northeast of Macau.
No damage was reported. Residents in Hong Kong reportedly also felt the temblor.
