A number of government entities announced on Saturday that the 2022 Sands China Macao International 10K event, the 41st Macao Green Week, a performance by the Macao Orchestra and a show by the Macao Chinese Orchestra were cancelled over the weekend in response to the latest COVID-19 situation in neighbouring regions.
According to a Sports Bureau (ID) statement on Saturday, “the organisers once again thank the participants for their understanding and cooperation. The registration fee refund arrangement will be announced in due course.” The bureau also apologised for the inconvenience caused to the participants due to the cancellation of the event.
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) also said in a statement on Saturday that in order to follow the government’s novel coronavirus prevention and control measures, the opening ceremony of the 41st Macao Green Week, and over 20 activities during the Green Week including tree planting, distribution of plants, ecological experience programmes and workshops were cancelled.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) also cancelled a performance by the Macao Orchestra and a show by the Macao Chinese Orchestra, which both originally were slated to take place on Saturday night. The statement said that the Cultural Affairs Bureau will announce the refunding details later.
Meanwhile, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEDJ) said in a statement yesterday that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the inter-school competitions taking place indoors will not allow spectators starting today. The statement added that the bureau has suspended the ticket sales for the 39th inter-school singing competition, until further notice.
