A half-naked local man drove close to a female teenager, got out of the car and showed his genitals to her in a street in Taipa on Thursday night, and shortly afterwards did the same to a woman in her thirties nearby in the early hours of the next day, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng told reporters on Friday during a regular press conference.
According to Leong, the suspect in his fifties, surnamed Wong, told the police that he is jobless. Leong said that the first victim is a minor.
Leong said that the police quickly arrested the suspect after the two cases, at around 1 a.m. on Friday in a residential building in Taipa. Leong said that police officers identified and located the suspect using the police forces’ citywide CCTV camera system about an hour after the last of the two incidents occurred.
The suspect had borrowed the car from a friend, according to Leong.
According to Leong, Wong was driving the car in Rua de Chiu Chau (潮州街) and suddenly drove close to the teenager at around 11 p.m. on Thursday. Leong said that Wong then got out of the car, wearing a white jacket but nothing on his lower body, telling the victim, “I can give you a ride”, while exposing his genitals and behaving “indecently”.
Leong said the victim got scared and ran away, and Wong then got back into the car and began following her. Finally, the teenager entered a convenience store in Estrada Governador Albano de Oliveira (柯維納馬路), where she sought help from the staff. Leong said that after confirming that Wong had driven way, the teenager called her parents to collect her.
Leong said that in the early hours of Friday, Wong did the same thing to the second victim when she was walking in Rua de Coimbra (哥英布拉街) – he drove past her, slammed on the brakes and exposed his genitals to her. Leong said that the victim then ran into a building and asked a doorman for help. The woman then also reported the incident to the police, while the suspect was driving away.
Leong said when questioned after his arrest Wong admitted to the two crimes. Wong told the police that he had argued with his girlfriend earlier on Thursday, and then borrowed a car from his friend to drive around to calm down. Leong said that Wong confessed that he decided to expose his genitals to the two victims as he was “attracted by their beauty”.
Leong noted that Wong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing exhibitionism charges. An exhibitionism charge carries a prison term of up to one year.
