A Malaysian man who works in a casino-hotel resort in Cotai stealthily took videos of men urinating or showering in locker room facilities from October last year, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheuk Kou Chi said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Cheuk identified the suspect as a 25-year-old non-resident worker surnamed Ooi who works as a customer service representative for the resort.
According to Cheuk, Ooi’s activities came to light after the police received a report from a 25-year-old local man on Tuesday night last week, who said that he had seen someone filming him showering from above in a locker room at the resort. When he tried to catch and stop the culprit, the latter ran away.
After scrutinising the resort’s CCTV footage, PSP officers identified Ooi as the suspect, and arrested him last Saturday when he went to work at the resort.
Including the latest victim, the police found a total of 17 video clips showing other men urinating or showering in the locker room facilities. The earliest films were taken in October last year.
Under questioning, Ooi admitted that he had furtively filmed men urinating or taking showers since October. He told the police that after taking the video clips, he had watched them himself, in order to satisfy his fetish.
Ooi has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further questioning, facing invasion of privacy charges.
