Hotels log over 1 million guests in Jan-Feb

Macau’s 119 hotels recorded 1.007 million guests in the first two months, a year-on-year growth of 20.9 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced. 

According to a DSEC statement on Tuesday, hotels’ average room occupancy rate rose 6.8 percentage points year-on-year to 46.2 percent. Guests’ average length of stay increased by 0.1 night to 1.9 nights. 

Last month, the number of guests increased 29.3 percent year-on-year to 493,000. Mainlanders and staycationers accounted for 80.3 percent and 13.7 percent of all guests respectively. 

At the end of February, the number of available guestrooms stood at 39,000, a year-on-year growth of 8.1 percent. Data on hotels designated for COVID-19 medical observation quarantine and self-health monitoring were excluded from the compilation, according to the statement.
