Macau Importers & Exporters Association Vice President Sunny Ip Sio Man said yesterday he believed that 24-hour supermarkets are competitive since their prices are lower than those at convenience stores.

Ip, chairman of Vang Kei Hong Trading Company Ltd, made the remarks to the media on the sidelines of the opening ceremony for the company’s fourth 24-hour supermarket.

Talking to reporters, Ip said the prices of goods sold at local 24-hour supermarkets are lower than those at convenience stores such as 7-Eleven and Circle K, adding that those convenience stores belong to international chains whose retail prices are higher than those of local 24-hour supermarkets.
