Macau’s annual mean air temperature rose 0.2 degrees Celsius year on year in 2021 and 0.7 degrees Celsius above the climatological normal from 1991 to 2020, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said in a statement yesterday.
The highest temperature of the year was 35.8 degrees Celsius in July, an increase of 0.3 degrees Celsius on a yearly basis, while the lowest temperature was 6.1 degrees Celsius in January, a fall of 0.6 degrees Celsius, the latest environment report released by the bureau showed.
Meanwhile, total precipitation increased by 493.0 mm year on year to 2,206.2 mm.
A total of eight tropical cyclones affected Macau last year. Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 was hoisted when Tropical Storm Lionrock and Typhoon Kompasu hit Macau, the report noted. – Xinhua, MPD
