A 27-year-old local woman contacted her ex-boyfriend before jumping off a high-rise building, telling him that she was “not in a good mood” after breaking up with her current boyfriend, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, the woman, surnamed Fan, had had a psychological illness for many years, so she had not had a job since graduation. The statement said that the parents told the police they believe that her “emotional problems and relationship issues” are the reasons for her suicide.

The statement said that when the police arrived at the scene, the woman’s ex-boyfriend was also at the scene. The statement said that the ex-boyfriend said before the woman committed suicide, she had sent him a voice message, saying that she was “not in a good mood” after breaking up with her current boyfriend. The statement added that the woman also sent the ex-boyfriend a photo of the rooftop. The statement pointed out that according to the ex-boyfriend, he found her lying on the fourth-floor podium when he arrived at the scene. The statement underlined that after investigation, the police confirmed that what the ex-boyfriend said was true.

According to the statement, the victim’s injuries match the wounds that are caused by falling from a height. The statement noted that the police have not found any other suspicious wounds, and neither was a suicide note found at the scene.

The statement said that the police has contacted the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) for assistance after the incident as requested by the woman’s mother, adding that since the ex-boyfriend is a student the police also contacted the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ).
