The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) said in a statement that it had organised a talk yesterday about the nation’s aerospace development, inviting about 130 students from local secondary schools and universities to attend the event at the Macau Science Centre in Nape.
According to the statement, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) Director Kong Chi Meng said during the event’s opening ceremony that as the nation’s aerospace development has “skyrocketed” the bureau has decided to host a raft of events to witness the advancement of the aerospace sector. He added that in December the bureau also hosted an Earth-space video chat between local students and the three astronauts at the Tiangong space station so that local students could be proud of the aerospace progress the nation is making, while building up interest amongst local students.
The statement said that the talk invited a spaceflight engineer, space science professor, aerospace researcher and a student studying precision instruments and mechanology to share their experiences with the students. The statement said that a student said the talk was a rare experience to improve one’s aerospace knowledge beyond the textbooks, pointing out that it was a great experience to learn about the country’s achievements in the aerospace sector.
The statement said that in order to comply with the government’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures, the event was held on a small scale as only a limited number of students can attend in person, but the talk was also livestreamed, which attracted around 6,000 students to watch.
