The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement yesterday that it will set up 60 temporary large-furniture collecting stations from May 1-7.

According to the statement, the peninsula will have 50 collecting stations, while Taipa and Coloane will get six and four stations respectively. The statement urged residents to only dispose of their furniture from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The statement said that in order to avoid a cluster of old furniture blocking the streets the bureau is working with an outsourced company to arrange more people and vehicles to move away the furniture at night. The statement stressed that residents should only dispose of their old furniture during the time stipulated, as those who place furniture in the street outside those hours could face a fine.
