The Macao Science Centre (MSC) hosted the “Online Tour of the Royal Observatory Greenwich” as part of its monthly-themed event “Starry Night” on Saturday.

The event regularly invites astronomers and astrophotographers from Macau and elsewhere in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to give lectures at the centre’s Planetarium.

Peter Harrison Planetarium astronomer Tania Marques guided the audience through the Royal Observatory Greenwich in London, and showcased astronomical instruments and the prime meridian. The online lecture was conducted in English and was attended by several guests and families at the local planetarium.

Wikipedia defines the prime meridian as “the meridian (a line of longitude) in a geographic coordinate system at which longitude is defined to be 0°”.
