A 51-year-old casino dealer threatened his 25-year-old married ex-girlfriend to resume their relationship or else they would “die together”, the Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leong said during a regular press conference on Wednesday.
According to the spokesman, the dealer, surnamed Chong, and the mainland victim were in a relationship but broke up in April last year. The spokesman said that in December last year the victim married a man in the mainland and now lives in the mainland. The spokesman said that since the breakup, the dealer had been “picking up the victim” from work in the central district, and forced her to meet up with him or else they would “die together”.
The spokesman said that the victim did not want to enrage her ex-boyfriend, so she agreed to meet him out of fear. The dealer stopped “picking up the victim” from work for a while but started the ordeal again on April 29.
The spokesman said that on April 29, the victim and the dealer got into an argument, and the dealer kept on pushing and pulling the victim until she got hurt. The spokesman pointed out that the victim did not have any obvious injuries so she didn’t call the police that night, but the next night she decided to report the case to the police.
The spokesman said that the police arrested Chong at one of the border checkpoints, and after investigating the mobile phone logs, the police concluded that the dealer had been trying to coerce the victim into getting back together with him.
The spokesman said that the dealer was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office
(MP) on Tuesday afternoon, facing charges of causing bodily harm and coercion.
