The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) said in a statement yesterday that in order to alleviate economic pressure on the laid-off, it has launched a 10-week short-term food subsidy scheme to assist them.
According to the statement, the scheme targets those who have been unemployed since January 1, 2020, had received the government’s 90-day unemployment subsidy, are still jobless, and do not receive any other IAS subsidies. The statement said that applicants can hand in their forms starting on Monday until December 31 at one of the four Caritas Macau’s food bank service centres. The statement underlined that the application must include a photocopy of the applicant’s Macau ID card, proof of residence address, proof of receiving the government’s 90-day unemployment subsidy, and the filled-in form.
The forms can be obtained from the Caritas website or the Catholic social welfare organisation’s four service centres.
The statement pointed out that that each applicant will get 10 weeks of food subsidy, and can renew his or her subsidy once within 12 months.
