A 60-year-old retired man stole a food delivery rider’s motorcycle key after they got into an argument over parking in Fai Chi Kei district on April 28, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.

According to Wong, when the victim was delivering food, he parked his motorcycle in front of a supermarket in Fai Chi Kei and got into a quarrel with the suspect. Wong said the suspect, surnamed Ieong, complained that the victim’s parking blocked his car. Wong said the suspect grabbed the key from the ignition of the motorcycle when the victim refused to move his motorcycle and instead went to deliver the food.

Wong added that when the victim returned, they argued again, with Ieong leaving the scene first. Wong noted that it was then that the  victim could not find his keys to start his motorcycle and, believing that Ieong has stolen the keys, he decided to report the incident to the police.

According to Wong, Ieong confessed to the Public Security Police on Friday that in a fit of temper he snatched the victim’s keys after they had quarrelled. Ieong returned the keys to the victim afterwards, but still faces a theft charge and was therefore transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further questioning.
