The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) announced in a recent statement that under Administrative Regulation No. 30/2021 “Registration System for Establishments of Takeaway Activities”, all takeaway shops are reminded to complete the registration and obtain the certificate, with the registration information also required to be displayed to the public.

The regulation came into force on November 15, 2021, according to the statement. All takeaway shops operating in the city are required to have obtained the registration certificate.

The statement pointed out that takeaway shops that opened after the regulation came into force must complete the registration prior to commencing business, while those that opened before the regulation came into force must apply for registration and obtain the registration certificate within 6 months, i.e., on or before May 15.

The registration, the statement pointed out, also stipulates that operators must display the registration certificate “at a prominent location in the physical shop”. The registration number must also be displayed on the internet or mobile app used for consumers’ identification if they are used for operation or promotion.

Providers of third-party online food trading platforms must also ensure that establishments using the platforms have registered and shown the registration information on the platforms. Those who violate the stipulations are liable to a fine of between 5,000 and 35,000 patacas.

Meanwhile, when choosing takeaway food, the bureau reminded consumers to be mindful of whether takeaway shops have displayed the registration information.

Consumers should choose registered shops that operate in line with the law to ensure that the shops’ operations are subject to “regular and random” inspections and monitoring by the bureau, safeguarding food safety, according to the statement.

The list of takeaway shops that have completed the registration can be viewed at www.foodsafety.gov.mo on the webpage “Establishments of Takeaway Activities with Registration Certificate”, while Takeaway food operators can also gain further understanding of the registration via the “Registration System for Establishments of Takeaway Activities”.

This poster recently provided by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) reminds the public that takeaway shops are required to obtain a registration certificate and display the registration on their premises.
