Macau’s overall average price of residential units dropped 8.4 percent quarter to quarter to 96,048 patacas per square metre of usable area in the first quarter of the year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced yesterday.
The average prices of residential units per square metre in the peninsula (95,820 patacas), Taipa (92,523 patacas) and Coloane (117,124 patacas) fell 0.5 percent, 14.1 percent and 16.2 percent respectively.
The average price per square metre of existing residential units dropped 4.6 percent to 93,964 patacas.
The average price per square metre of pre-sale residential units dipped 2.5 percent to 161,171 patacas.
The average price per square metre of industrial units decreased 4.0 percent to 50,391 patacas, while that of office units rose 3.1 percent to 90,168 patacas.
A total of 2,240 real-estate purchase and sale contracts were signed in the first quarter, involving 2,422 properties, up by 0.8 percent.
A total of 1,898 mortgage contracts were signed in the first quarter, with the number of properties involved rising 8.3 percent to 2,834.
In the private construction sector, 7,162 residential units were in the design state, 2,059 under construction and 75 under inspection, as of the end of March.
A total of 1,407 building units and parking spaces involving 7.29 billion patacas were purchased and sold in the first quarter, according to stamp duty records, down by 28.3 percent and 26.4 percent respectively.
