The owner of a food supply company hung himself at the loading dock of a gaming resort in Cotai on Saturday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement that night.
The statement identified the deceased as a 69-year-old local man surnamed Lam.
According to the statement, the Judiciary Police received a report from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday about the case, which occurred at the loading dock of a gaming resort in Avenida Cidade Nova (新城大馬路).
At around 4 p.m. on Saturday, the statement said, a stewarding attendant went to the loading area to work where he found that a man – Lam – had hung himself with a rope. He immediately called the emergency services.
According to the statement, the attendant told PJ officers that the man was the owner of a company supplying food to the gaming resort.
At around 11 a.m. that day, according to the statement, staff members of the gaming resort saw Lam delivering food there, when he “did not show any signs of abnormalities”.
The statement also said that nobody had seen Lam quarrelling with anyone before.
According to the statement, PJ officers saw marks on Lam’s neck, and confirmed that the marks matched the rope that he had used to hang himself.
An initial examination of the body by PJ officers showed that Lam had no injuries that could have been caused by foul play, nor were any signs of a struggle found at the scene, the statement said.
No suicide note was found at the scene, the statement said.
The statement said that a post-mortem examination will be performed.
