For most people, a good career is one that provides a lot of money and gives a comfortable life. However, in the minds of teenagers, the best career is one that allows someone to make a big impact on the world. They aim to affect the world by their profession and become stars that light up the “darkness” around them, no matter if the impact they make is big or small.
A few weeks ago, I watched a fencing competition. An athlete called Yin Zi Wang made a deep impression on me using his penetrating voice and amazing performance. He cheered loudly every time he scored a point. From his eyes, I could see his desire for victory, and his passion brought tears to my eyes.
Nowadays, the world is filled with selfishness. All people care about is their own portion – that is money, and personal benefit. It is rare to see someone as pure as Yin Zi Wang. He makes me think that an athlete is one of the best jobs in the world because they can change people’s souls. After watching his match, I became passionate about everything I did in my life. It is because of Yin Zi Wang that I have learnt that the way to have an enjoyable life is to love what we do. The way he inspires people made him like a meteor across the sky that irradiates the night.
Compared to athletes, teachers have a longer lasting influence on the world. It is because athletes can only contribute to a wonderful competition, but the impact of education lasts for a very long time. Many scientific reports have shown that most people’s success comes from their teachers. People even celebrate their teachers on Teacher’s Day every year.
I have also been affected by a teacher. My teacher, Miss Xi, has changed me a lot through her guidance. I first met her at a Chinese cultural competition when she asked me to sign up for that competition. I refused to join at first because I did not think I could win it, but she kept on encouraging me. Eventually, I decided to participate in that competition. Although I did not win the first prize, I found what I was passionate about. The influence she made on me continued. I kept improving my writing skills and my knowledge of Chinese culture. Finally, I won the competition. Miss Xi teacher’s guidance is still helping me overcome difficulties. It is the same as the sun’s light. The light may not be as bright as the meteor, but the light never becomes dim.
In summary, athletes and teachers are the two careers that I admire the most because they both make the world better. Life is filled with depravity. Fortunately, their dedication and influence save people from suffering.
