Macau’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre yesterday announced three COVID-19 positive cases imported from Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, raising Macau’s asymptomatic tally to 135.
According to a statement by the centre, the first patient is a 40-year-old non-resident worker from the United States who flew to Macau from Singapore on Saturday. He had previously received three Sinopharm inactivated jabs.
The second patient is a 41-year-old Hong Kong woman who entered Macau from Hong Kong on Sunday. She received her first and second mRNA jab in March and April last year respectively, before receiving a Sinovac inactivated dose as her booster jab in February.
The third patient is a 63-year-old man from Taiwan who flew to Macau on Sunday. He had previously received three mRNA jabs.
Macau’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 82.
A spokesperson for the Health Bureau (SSM) told The Macau Post Daily yesterday that in the public interest, the bureau has exempted the US national from the Macau government’s current entry ban on foreign nationals without a Macau ID card.
“Re-positive” returnee from US
Meanwhile, yesterday’s statement also announced a COVID-19 “re-positive” case imported from the US.
The “re-positive” patient is a 20-year-old local woman who returned to Macau on Saturday from the US via Singapore. She had previously received three mRNA jabs.
A COVID-19 “re-positive” case means that a person has tested positive for the novel coronavirus again in a nucleic acid test (NAT) after having previously been infected with COVID-19 and recovered.
The woman’s case has been classified as a “re-positive” case as she had previously been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease.
All four patients are now undergoing isolation at the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane.
COVID-19 “re-positive” cases are not classified as confirmed COVID-19 cases for Macau, neither are they classified as asymptomatic COVID-19 cases for Macau.
