Macau’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre yesterday announced three COVID-19 positive cases imported from Hong Kong, raising Macau’s asymptomatic tally to 141.

According to a statement by the centre, the first patient is an 18-year-old Hong Kong woman who had previously received two mRNA jabs.

The second patient is a 71-year-old local man who received his first and second Sinopharm inactivated jab in June and July last year respectively, before receiving an mRNA dose as his booster jab in February.

The third patient is a 65-year-old local woman who had previously received three mRNA jabs.

The three patients entered Macau on Monday or Tuesday.

Macau’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 82.

2 ‘re-positive’ returnees from HK

Meanwhile, yesterday’s statement also announced two COVID-19 “re-positive” cases also imported from Hong Kong.

Both are local residents who returned to Macau on Monday or Tuesday.

The first “re-positive” patient is a 65-year-old woman who received her first and second Sinopharm inactivated jab in May and June last year respectively, before receiving an mRNA dose as her booster jab in February.

The second “re-positive” patient is an 18-year-old woman who had previously received two mRNA jabs.

A COVID-19 “re-positive” case means that a person has tested positive for the novel coronavirus again in a nucleic acid test (NAT) after having previously been infected with COVID-19 and recovered.

The two women’s cases have been classified as “re-positive” cases as both were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease in March.

All five patients are now undergoing isolation at the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane.

COVID-19 “re-positive” cases are not classified as confirmed COVID-19 cases for Macau, neither are they classified as asymptomatic COVID-19 cases for Macau.
