Macau’s 121 hotels and inns recorded 369,000 guests last month, a year-on-year decline of 46.9 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced yesterday.
While the number of mainland guests dropped by 59.5 percent to 244,000, the number of local staycationers rose by 55.8 percent to 95,000. Guests’ average length of stay increased by 0.1 night to 1.7 nights.
Guestrooms’ average occupancy rate fell by 29.5 percentage points to 29.5 percent.
Data on hotels designated for COVID-19 quarantine were excluded from the compilation of the data, the bureau noted.
In the first four months, the number of guests declined by 18.8 percent to 1.74 million.
