A statement by SJM Resorts yesterday said that the casino-hotel resort operator has supported the “Caring for Youth Well-being” initiative carried out by the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office to promote a positive outlook and psychosocial well-being among local youngsters.
The statement noted that SJM has sponsored the “5 Gifts of Happiness” programme by Sheng Kung Hui (the Cantonese name of the Anglican Church), and helped to pack “de-stress” goody bags which will be distributed to the community and local secondary schools, such as Escola Estrela do Mar and Pooi To Middle School. The statement added that the distribution of the goody bags will continue until the middle of next month.
The statement said that students were invited to participate in WeChat quizzes and to enter a lucky draw featuring prizes, such as complimentary hotel packages, to enhance their awareness of mental health needs.
The statement noted that the “5 Gifts of Happiness” canvas bags, which are filled with presents that aim to promote positive thinking and an optimistic outlook, have been designed by a local artist. The programme was inspired by the “Pioneer of Positive Psychology”, which is a work by Dr Martin Seligman, and the founder of the P.E.R.M.A. model - 5 Building Blocks of Well-being, the statement added.
P.E.R.M.A stands for P – Positive Emotion,
