The Macau Customs Service (SA) arrested three females suspected of involvement in parallel trading last night, Acting Operational Management Department Chief José Pou Ka Meng, told reporters yesterday.

Lam made the remarks after inviting the media to witness customs officers busting a warehouse where parallel trading was being carried out inside a building near the Barrier Gate checkpoint. The three suspects are local females aged in their 30s.

According to Pou, the customs officers intercepted the first suspect at the Barrier Gate checkpoint earlier last night and found her carrying bird’s nests, with the relevant receipts as proof of parallel trading. Pou said the suspect then took officers to the building where she would be given the goods for parallel trading, and subsequently found the other two suspects working in the warehouse.

Inside the godown, the officers seized 300,000 patacas worth of bird’s nests, electronic products and cosmetics, said Pou, adding that the first suspect was paid 100 patacas each time for taking the products across the checkpoint.
