The “First China (Macau) High-quality Consumption Exhibition (CHCE) & Hengqin Global Bay Areas’ Forum” is slated to be held from September 7 to 11, with details announced during a press conference at The Venetian Macao in Cotai yesterday afternoon.
The press conference was attended by a number of representatives such as Nam Kwong Group Company Limited Vice President Song Xiaodong and Sands China President Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, while speeches by video link were delivered by Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce Director-General Wu Zhengping and Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province Director-General Zhang Jingsong.
According to a statement provided Sands Resorts Macao on behalf of the upcoming event’s organisers, Nam Kwong Group will cooperate with the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce in Beijing and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong to organise the events, which will be coordinated by Nam Kwong International Convention and Exhibition Co. Ltd. and Sands China.
The statement pointed out that to promote Macau and Hengqin’s integrated development, the event will be held as “one exhibition in two places”. The forum will be held in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on September 7-8, centring on topics such as a “high-quality lifestyle” in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), “political benefits of the Cooperation Zone” and development of cultural tourism and the MICE industry, the statement said. The CHCE, meanwhile, will be held at The Venetian’s Cotai Expo and Shoppes at Four Seasons from September 9-11.
The GBA consists of nine cities in Guangdong and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
Song was quoted in the statement as saying that with Macau’s economy being “severely affected” by the COVID-19 pandemic, “Nam Kwong will further strengthen its cooperation with mainland enterprises and Macau’s industrial and commercial sectors in organising the CHCE” and “give full play to the overall effectiveness of the MICE industry in stimulating cultural tourism development and economic growth” to play its role in Macau’s economic recovery after the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Wong was quoted in the statement as saying during the in-depth cooperation zone’s first anniversary, “it is believed that the CHCE will be an important milestone” in promoting Macau and Hengqin’s integrated development. Through assembling “high-quality enterprises” from the mainland, it aims to “manifest the national strength to the customers” from the GBA, elsewhere in the mainland, and abroad, and to encourage more local enterprises to enter the GBA’s market to help Macau “better integrate into the overall national development and lay a solid foundation for its economic recovery after the pandemic”.
Coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival, the statement underlined that the CHCE will showcase representative products from all over the mainland, duty-free quality products and high-end service products, among others, “promoting common prosperity through high-quality consumption”.
