A motorcycle owner was arrested on Wednesday for moving his motorbike after it had been clamped by the police, Public Security Police (PSP) Leong Chi Seng said at a regular press conference on Friday.
According to Leong, the 24-year-old male suspect surnamed Lao told the police that he works as a motorcycle repairman.
Leong said on Wednesday at 9 a.m. a traffic officer clamped a motorcycle and stuck a notice on the it for parking in a four-wheel vehicle’s parking space near Teatro Alegria in the San Kio district. At 11 a.m. the same officer discovered that the motorcycle had been moved to the pavement, with the notice removed and the lock on the clamp damaged, said Leong.
The police contacted Lao later that day, Leong said, adding that Lao confessed to the wrongdoing. He has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a public property damage charge, said Leong.
