The Legislative Assembly (AL) is the “people’s home” and all of its meetings should be broadcast live, lawmaker Jose Pereira Coutinho said at the headquarters of the Macau Civil Servants Association (ATFPM) in Avenida da Amizade yesterday.

Coutinho, who heads the association, made the remarks during a press conference with fellow lawmaker Leong Veng Chai, summarising their work during the 2015/16 session of the legislature which ended on Monday. The legislature is now in summer recess until October 15.

Customarily, the legislative’s six standing committee meetings are held behind closed doors. Only the plenary sessions are broadcast live.
