The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement on Saturday that it has carried out “large-scale and comprehensive” cleaning and disinfection in multiple markets and that since the outbreak it has “strictly required” vendors to undergo rapid antigen tests (RATs) prior to working, which are checked by inspection staff daily before opening.
The bureau said that the large-scale cleaning and disinfection works were conducted upon the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre’s announcement of the local travel histories of the confirmed cases, according to the statement. The markets cleaned included Bairro Iao Hon Municipal Market, particularly the stalls and public facilities where the confirmed cases had been.
Moreover, the statement said that vendors must strictly follow hygiene and pandemic prevention guidelines while working, while taking personal hygiene protection measures to “protect the health of themselves and consumers”.
The statement added that the bureau cleaned the markets and nearby streets during the closed hours of the markets, as well as increased the cleaning of public facilities with diluted bleach. Moreover, those entering the market must wear a facemask, undergo temperature checks, present a valid “Macau Health Code” and scan the venue QR code.
