The Judiciary Police (PJ) again urged residents in a statement on Friday after a similar statement released on June 17 to remain vigilant against food order scams.
According to the statement, recently scammers have adjusted their scam tactics and asked restaurant owners to order red wine on the scammers’ behalf. A “commission” had been promised to the owners, with many of the owners taking the bait and losing money, the statement said.
The Judiciary Police have received reports about several similar fraud cases, and they reminded residents not to be greedy and stay vigilant, as deception methods are endless but are always looking for money.
In order to prevent fraud, the police urged residents to be wary of transferring money to strangers, underlining that any transfer records can be forged by software. The police also urged residents to spread the message among friends and family members to remind them not to fall for such scams, adding that they should call the police on the hotline 8800 7777 or 993 when receiving any dubious business proposals.
