Vendors in all markets and sales booth areas must go through daily rapid antigen tests (RATs) before opening, according to a statement by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) yesterday.
The statement noted that the bureau has been enhancing the monitoring of the vendors’ RATs and has reminded them to follow the government’s COVID-19 prevention and hygiene guidelines, as well as to take personal hygiene protection measures.
Moreover, the statement pointed out that its staff are strengthening inspections, while COVID-19 prevention messages are broadcast in municipal markets and sales booth areas urging members of the public to reduce crowd gatherings. Security guards, meanwhile, are also stationed at market entrances to provide residents with hand sanitisers, according to the statement.
The statement pointed out that the bureau cleans all the municipal markets, sales booth areas and nearby streets during the markets’ closed hours, as well as the cleaning of public facilities with diluted bleach.
