Wynn Palace opened last night, drawing big crowds to Cotai to try their luck in the new casino, while Wynn Resorts Chairman & CEO Steve Wynn told a ballroom full of guests that the new US$4 billion resort that took six and a half years to build was a “gift” to the community.
“It’s our gift to the community, to the public,” Wynn was quoted as saying in a statement from Wynn Palace.
While hundreds of people gathered around the approximately 27,000-square-metre musical fountain for the opening, Wynn hosted a dinner in the new resort’s ballroom with VIP guests such as Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On, National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Vice Chairman Edmund Ho HauWah, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government Deputy Director Yao Jian, Foreign Ministry Deputy Commissioner Cai Siping and other senior officials, according to the statement, as the dinner was closed to reporters.
