SJM Resorts announced in a statement yesterday that Grand Lisboa is maintaining “close communication” with relevant government entities, and it pledged to implement, as well as contribute to, the government’s COVID-19 pandemic measures.

The statement pointed out that “in relation to the designation of Red Code Zone on the premises, proper care has been extended to all affected employees, guests and tenants, which includes accommodation and three daily meals”.

Hotel Grand Lisboa was locked down by the government on Tuesday after 13 of its staff were diagnosed with COVID-19. “Red Code Zone” means that a building has been locked down.

The statement noted that the hotel also arranges the “orderly delivery of essentials to those affected which have been delivered by families and friends” in line with the government’s precautionary guidelines.  Moreover, the statement added that the government has arranged for the disinfection and cleaning of the premises.

The government confirmed yesterday that there are about 500 people in the locked-down casino-hotel.

The statement emphasised that the hotel, moving forward, “will continue to implement strict containment measures, as the health and safety of all guests and employees represent its top priorities. In the face of the pandemic,” adding that “Grand Lisboa stays united to fight the virus with the Macau community”.
