The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) provided an explanation in a statement yesterday on a video excerpt released on social media about workers conducting cleaning and disinfection in a locked-down (“red zone”) building.
The statement noted that the video showed the workers taking photos after cleaning had been completed, with the photos sent by the outsourced company to the bureau for its records.
Meanwhile, being active in promoting various pandemic prevention and control works, the statement pointed out that IAM sends staff to conduct “screening” at the city’s locked-down buildings’ locations immediately upon being notified by the Health Bureau (SSM). Coordination is also done with Macau Residue System Company, Ltd. (CSR) and outsourced cleaning companies, the statement underlined, to send extra workers for “deep cleaning and disinfection” of communal areas on each floor such as corridors, bannisters and lifts, mainly focusing on thorough mist disinfection and wiping to prevent the spread of COVID-19. IAM staff are also on site for coordination and supervision during the cleaning and disinfection.
IAM emphasised that it will strengthen the supervision of the works and strive to minimise the risks of COVID-19 spreading.
