Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leong said in a statement last night that a fire broke out in dumpster in an enclosed waste collection facility near the junction of Avenida do Conselheiro Borja (青洲大馬路) and Avenida do General Castelo Branco (白朗古將軍大馬路).

The Judiciary Police were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 6:44 p.m. of a suspicious fire in the facility, according to the statement.

The statement noted that the bottom of one of the dumpsters in the facility was burnt through, while some burning incense and joss paper were found in it. The Judiciary Police said they suspected that someone threw joss sticks that had not completely burnt out into the dumpster, causing the fire, the statement added.

No one was injured.

The Judiciary Police have classified the case as suspected arson.
