Police nabbed two local male residents and two male mainlanders in Zape on Wednesday for violating the government’s special COVID-19 prevention and control measures for this week, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leong said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the two local suspects, surnamed Ieong and Cheang, are aged 49 and 61 respectively, while the other two suspects, surnamed Liu and Gao, are aged 51 and 52 respectively.
The statement noted that while patrolling in Zape on Wednesday PJ officers saw the four suspects not wearing their facemasks or removing their facemasks so that they could smoke.
According to the statement, the suspects’ Macau Health Code was confirmed to be green, adding that the quartet tested negative for COVID-19 in their rapid antigen tests (RATs).
The statement said that the four males were arrested by the Judiciary Police.
According to the government’s seven-day special measures, which are based on an executive order by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng promulgated in the Official Gazette (BO) on Saturday, everyone must wear a facemask when going out, while all adults must wear a KN95 facemask or those of higher standards.
Anyone violating the order, including those failing to wear a KN95 facemask or of higher standards when going out, faces up to two years in jail and/or a hefty fine.
