The Health Bureau (SSM) launched a service for premises that do not yet have a Venue QR Code (venue code) to create one on the bureau’s e-platform last Friday, in order to comply with the government’s requirement for residents to activate a QR code before entering specific premises, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced in a statement yesterday.
According to the government, all venues and facilities in the city licensed by both the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) are required to have their contact-tracing-function venue codes available for patrons to scan in order to record that they have visited there.
The Health Bureau said this was due to the fact that it has recently been processing a large number of applications to create venue codes, which reached 2,729 from Thursday to Sunday.
According to the statement, applicants will need to provide the correct venue information and a phone number through which they can receive a text message in order to complete the online application.
Once the venue code is generated, the respective contact person will receive an SMS showing their venue code and their login account for the applicant to download, save, print and post the venue code, the statement noted.
The Health Bureau is urging everyone living in Macau to use their Macau Health Code mobile app to record their whereabouts in order to help health officials in their epidemiological investigations during pandemic outbreaks and thus stop the spread of the novel coronavirus in the community as soon as possible.

The e-platform, officially called Enquiry and Assistance for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, aims to provide residents with an easier and more efficient way to access their information regarding pandemic outbreaks, including enquiries for those with red or yellow health codes due to incorrect address declaration and application for removal of red or yellow health code.
