A Vietnamese couple were arrested on Wednesday for falsifying rapid antigen test (RAT) results, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Chan Fai said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the 22-year-old female suspect, surnamed Uong, works as a waitress, while the 26-year-old male suspect, surnamed Tran, works as a cleaner.
The statement said that PJ officers were notified by the Health Bureau (SSM) about the case on Wednesday, pointing out that SSM staff discovered earlier that the positive results of two male Vietnamese non-resident workers’ (NRWs) rapid antigen tests were uploaded to their respective RAT reporting platforms, but the bureau suspected that someone had uploaded the falsified positive RAT results using other people’s personal information.
The Judiciary Police identified Uong as the suspect, and intercepted her as well as Tran at their flat in a residential building in the northern district, the statement noted.
The statement said that Uong and the two victims live in the same flat, adding that due to her dissatisfaction with the noise the two men frequently made, which affected her life, she took revenge by obtaining their personal information through an online social platform, fabricated the positive RAT results and uploaded them to their respective rapid antigen test reporting platforms.
Moreover, the statement pointed out, PJ officers found that Uong also submitted her negative RAT result on Tran’s rapid antigen test reporting platform for his declaration.
The two suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) where Uong faces charges of aggravated computer-related forgery and document forgery, while Tran faces document forgery charges, according to the statement.
