Resort operator SJM said in a statement this week that it has worked with award-winning designer Au Chon Hin and his team at Untitled Macao to create two exclusive mooncake gift boxes for Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau and Grand Lisboa Hotel.
Au won the “SJM New Talent Award” at the Macau Design Awards 2021. The statement noted he and his team devised two “contemporary and practical gift boxes that can be repurposed and reused for any occasion” by combining his signature style with a sustainable design.
The Grand Lisboa Palace’s “Secret Garden under the Moon” is inspired by the resort’s European-styled architecture and gardens, while the Grand Lisboa Hotel’s “Treasure Box of the Moon” features goldfish at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, “The 8”, the statement said.
SJM aims to promote a green and environmentally friendly Mid-Autumn Festival by combining ecological designs into the sets, with each gift box designed as picnic hampers for easy carry and all year-round reusability.
The statement added that SJM also partnered with Chazence to create sustainable cutlery to pair with the gift sets, using recycled tea leaves instead of plastic to make fully biodegradable cutlery through its patented technology.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Daisy Ho Chiu Fung was quoted in the statement as saying, “As we celebrate Mid-Autumn, we have also taken the opportunity to partner with local SMEs to promote creativity and environmental awareness. As we contribute to Macau’s economic diversification, we will continue to enhance collaboration with local artists and the creative cultural industry to showcase their talents and pave way for their sustainable growth.”
