The Macau government has announced two consecutive days of mandatory rapid antigen tests (RATs - self-tests) starting today for the whole population.

Health Bureau (SSM) Director Alvis Lo Iek Long announced the measure during a press conference by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre this afternoon.

As previously, people are required to upload their RAT results for verification by the Health Bureau.

The measure was announced after the Health Bureau was informed by the municipal government of Zhuhai this morning that a commuter working in Macau between the adjacent cities had tested positive for COVID-19 in Zhuhai. The person lived in Block 1 of Polytec Garden estate in the Macau peninsula's northern Areia Preta district and worked in the bakery of the Grand Mart supermarket in Taipa near the Macau Jockey Club.

The Health Bureau has meanwhile sealed off Block 1 of Polytec Garden and Grand Mart. People in the so-called "key zones" in the two vicinities are undergoing mandatory nucleic acid tests, which are slated to end by midnight.
