The chance of Macau joining the Olympic Games is low even though some officials said they had spoken to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) about the matter, Paul Au Chi Kun, a senior athlete and coach, said on the sidelines of an outdoor forum in Vasco da Gama Garden yesterday.
The forum discussed what policies and sports facilities were necessary for training athletes to reach their peak performance in Macau and where the future of Macau athletes lies.
Au, the vice principal of the secondary section of Instituto Salesiano, said: “Macau is not able to take part in the Olympic Games unless the IOC changes its regulations.”
