A local man inappropriately touched two local female teenagers in public on separate occasions after he had asked them out on an online social media platform, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Leong said the jobless suspect surnamed Chan is in his twenties, while the two female victims are aged 17 and 19 respectively. Leong added that the two victims are friends.
According to Leong, Chan added the two victims to his friends list on a social media app in early February and both, unknown to the other, agreed to meet up with him. Leong said when Chan met one of the victims in mid-February, he touched her breast in the street and when he met the second victim in April Chan touched her shoulders and arms.
Leong said the two victims felt disgusted about the incidents. After the two victims spoke to each other later and found out that the same man, Chan, had sexually harassed them, they reported the incidents to the police together last Wednesday.
According the Leong, Chan was arrested at his home on Avenida de Horta e Costa on Thursday. Leong added that Chan admitted his wrongdoings, saying that he touched the first victim’s breast because he was “sexually aroused”, and that he felt “playful” and touched the second victim’s shoulders and arms. Chan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a sexual harassment charge, Leong said.
