Worker falls 7-metres when changing hotel’s ceiling

A local worker was injured after falling from a height of about seven metres when replacing a hotel’s exterior ceiling, according to a statement by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) yesterday.

The statement identified the worker as a 43-year-old man, who was taken to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre.

The statement quoted people at the site saying that the victim is an outsourced construction worker who was changing Sands hotel’s exterior ceiling when the accident happened.

The statement noted that the worker’s condition was stable when he was rushed to the hospital.

According to the statement, the victim suffered a fracture of his right thigh and sustained a contusion to his right wrist.

Firefighters have informed the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) about the work accident.
