Macau Civic Power (ECM) Chairwoman Agnes Lam Iok Fong urged the government yesterday not to waste money and questioned the urgency of building a costly new central library during the local economy’s current trough.

She made the remarks on the sidelines of an outdoor forum in Vasco da Gama Garden yesterday.

The forum was about the path of Macau’s sports.

Lam, the assistant dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Macau (UM), said she agreed that a new central library should be built as the current one in Praça do Tap Seac was too small.
