A local man was caught for scratching three cars because he was angry as the vehicles were obstructing his way, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheuk Kou Chi said at a press conference yesterday.
Cheuk identified the suspect as a 45-year-old surnamed Cheang who told the police that he works as a driver.
According to Cheuk, the police received a report on August 14 from a car owner that his or her vehicle had been scratched the day before in Caminho das Hortas in Taipa. Cheuk said that police officers who arrived on the scene found that two more cars next to the complainant’s had also been scratched.
The police made use of the citywide CCTV camera system and identified Cheang, and last Saturday he was intercepted, Cheuk said. Under questioning, Cheang admitted that he was upset at the cars blocking the road and thus scratched them.
Cheuk noted that similar cases had occurred in the same spot committed by a man that looked like Cheang. However, the suspect denied involvement in the previous cases, Cheuk said, adding that Cheang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of causing property damage.
