Severe Tropical Storm "Ma-on" went soft on Macau last night, causing no major damage or serious injuries, according to the Civil Protection Operations Centre.

Macau's observatory downgraded its Severe Tropical Storm No.8 signal to the Strong Wind Signal No.3 at 11 a.m. today. The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) had hoisted the No.8 signal – its third highest storm warning signal – at 10:30 p.m. yesterday.

The weather station cancelled its Storm Surge warning at 10 a.m. Only minor floods were recorded.

At 4 p.m., Ma-on was located some 390 kilometres west of Macau, moving away further from Macau towards Guangdong province.

Government offices reopened this afternoon. Public bus services restarted in the early afternoon.
