FM Commissioner’s Office to issue visas for Macau-based foreigners to visit Hengqin

Foreign Ministry Commissioner Liu Xianfa announced during yesterday’s “Macao Urban Transformation and Development Dialogue” that the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) will provide visas for Macau-based foreign nationals to visit the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

The dialogue was hosted by the office in conjunction with the Macau government and was held in the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex.

A statement provided during yesterday afternoon’s  event pointed out that the announcement was made to meet the requirements of the General Plan for the Development of the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, support the zone’s development, promote Macau’s long-term prosperity and stability, and integrate the city into the nation’s overall development.

The policy, the statement noted, has been approved by the Foreign Ministry and will take effect tomorrow. The statement underlined that the facilitation measures include the following:

“Permanent Foreign Residents can apply for a 5-year multiple-entry visa; Non-permanent Foreign Residents can apply for a multiple-entry visa with the same validity period as the resident ID card; Foreign Non-resident Workers (specialised workers only) can apply for a 1-year multiple-entry visa; Foreigners who stay in Macao temporarily with a plan to attend conventions or exhibitions in the Cooperation Zone can apply for a 3-month multiple-entry visa.”

Moreover, the statement added that the office will continuously strive to better serve Macau through diplomatic work, improve the quality and level of its services and better promote personnel exchanges and cooperation to provide impetus to the In-depth Cooperation Zone’s development, and contribute to Macau’s economic development and people’s well-being.
