Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng has expressed today his deep condolences over the death of British Queen Elizabeth II, according to a statement by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS).

The statement quoted Ho as saying that Queen Elizabeth II  "devoted her whole life to Britain and to the British people", pointing out that she "was greatly respected and loved by the British people."

On behalf of the MSAR government and in a personal capacity, Ho expressed his sincere condolences to King Charles III, other members of Britain’s Royal Family, the British government, and the British people, according to the statement.

Britons account for a sizeable number of Macau's foreign community. There is a British chamber of commerce (Britcham Macao), and there is also a British-themed hotel-casino resort, The Londoner Macao.  Lord Stow's Bakery, which was founded in 1989 and is still run by a local British family, produces Macau's famous egg tarts which have become one of its most popular souvenirs.
