A film festival entitled “‘On The Road’ Macao Youth Film Festival” is screening local films produced by locals at Cinematheque•Passion until September 24, according to a statement handed out during the opening ceremony on Friday.
The event is hosted by Cinematheque•Passion and supported by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).
The statement said that the festival also has a “‘Down The Road’ Outstanding Youth Film Screenings” section that features overseas films made by young people.
According to the statement, while “On The Road” intends to give credit to the non-stop effort of the many generations of students who supported the development of local films, “Down The Road” hopes that film makers around the world will eventually meet each other “down the road”.
The opening ceremony also included an prize giving, where six shortlisted short films were presented including “Imprisoned” by Jacky Lao of Macau Polytechnic University (MPU); and “One Day That Day” by Angie Wong, “Influencer” by Liu Han Cong, “Memory” by Larry Leng, as well as “Two” and “Sea” both by Chan Chon Sin from the University of Macau (UM), the statement said, adding that “Sea” won the award for “Best Short”, with the jury board commenting that its cinematography created a sense of contrast between the “openness of sea” and “imprisonment of fate”.
