House of Macao Literature now open to public

The opening ceremony was held on Saturday for The Macao House of Literature, which is now open for members of the public to visit, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement from the same day.

According to the statement, the ceremony was officiated by Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Wan Sucheng, Cultural Affairs Bureau President Leong Wai Man and Cultural Consultative Committee Member Carlos Marreiros, among others.

The statement noted that the literature house is adjacent to Praça do Tap Seac, with its location connecting nearby world heritage buildings, enhancing residents and tourists’ cultural tourism experience as well as promoting cultural exchanges and establish Macau’s positioning as “a base for exchange and cooperation where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist”, among others.

The two-storey building includes a permanent exhibition room, a reading room and a thematic exhibition room, holds The House of Macao Literature Series. The exhibition, the statement said, presents various IC-published books. The book series comprise “Documentation Series”, “Literary Works Series” and “Studies and Review Series”, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the statement pointed out that different gifts will be launched in weekly phases over four weeks, while limited gifts are available on a daily basis such as postcards and bookmarks. Those visiting the venue until October 15 will receive a venue passport and can collect stamps which can be redeemed for special gifts

The literature house is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last admission is at 5:30 p.m.), except Mondays. Admission is free.

In line with the government’s pandemic prevention measures, visitors must wear a facemask, undergo a temperature check and present a Venue QR Code and a valid green Macau Health Code. More information can be found by calling 2872 8205 during office hours or visiting www.clm.gov.mo.
